Two years have passed
Since that fateful day on September 11, 2001,
But at times it seems like yesterday.
Watching images of the horrific acts
Still brings me to tears.
Why did this happen to us?
Innocent people didn’t deserve to die.
I can’t express the grief and shock
I still feel to this day.
The terrorists thought to
Bring our country to its knees,
But instead it only made us stronger,
More unified, more patriotic.
People began reaching out to others again,
Having more respect for their fellow man.
Flags fly higher now,
Displayed more prominently everywhere.
Our country stands tall and strong,
Never forgetting that fateful day.
